Office Set-up

Office set-up seems like such a no brainer, but I will tell you after going through 3 offices and now in the growing phase there are a few things i wish I would of considered.

If you have the ability to set your office up make it so every computer screen can be seen by you, your manager or at worst another employee. Un productive time on computers will cost you a fortune.

It is alot eaiser to start with a set of rules, then to go back and add them as you go. So here are a few I would suggest :

1) Computers always must face the manager.
2) No downloads, NEVER not even family pictures or backgrounds (If it is FREE on the internet, it comes with a hidden cost::like spyware)
3) Never use extensions..Always use Names ::: It ie eaiser to move people that extensions.
4) Do it right the first time, it will cost you 3 times as much if you try to go cheap.
5) Buy the Battery back up that the techs tell you to buy...dont get them from Walmart !
6) Keep the office Cool, the warmer you get the slowere they get....
7) Keep the people you need the production from away from the copier, printer, kitchen any area where they can be distracted. Even good employees will take the time to small talk.
8) Do an employee handbook, before you open so the employees dont think you are making it up as you go along.
9) Keep a suggestion box, so they have a easy non-threating way to tell you when problems arise ot things need to change. You may think you have the best relationship with an employee, but they will not tell you everything to your face. Especially if it is bad news.
10)
Visit other offices near you to get good ideas.

If you need more help you can always hire a office planner:
